We had a family dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, Tres Hombres Mexican Grill and Cantina. I ordered their speciality, Oaxacan Style Enchiladas: One Beef, one Chicken and one Pork. They were very tasty but way too much food to eat. It came with a side of Rice and Refried Beans. I washed it down with a Dos Equis.

Nachos and Tacos
Tonight we had takeout from a local Mexican restaurant. They got the 60% of the order wrong, but what we did receive was very tasty. We had amazing Super Nachos with Marinated Pork and Tacos with Rice and Beans. Nice meal with great company.
Italian Stuffed Zucchini Boats
I made us Italian Stuffed Zucchini Boats for dinner. They were filled with a ground beef, tomato and mozzarella that was amazing. I served it with another scoop of the Extra Filling and three Baby Bell Peppers. The girls even said that the zucchini boats “weren’t as bad as some of the vegetables” we make them eat. So, I’ll take that as a win!
DQ FlameThrower
After a long day at work and a busy day for the family, I gave in and hit the Dairy Queen drive thru on my way home. I ordered a 1/2 lb FlameThrower GrillBurger Combo. I guess I didn’t read the “FlameThrower” part or notice the “jalapeño bacon” when I ordered it. I without a doubt did notice it when I scarfed it down. I didn’t fling it to the ground yelling “spicy” like my daughter would have, but I could taste the kick.
Steak in Chicago
I ate an amazing Ribeye with Fire-Grilled Corn on the Cob. It was so nice to eat something with a knife and fork. I’m so stuffed is that I feel like a tick. I’m sure I’ll sleep well tonight! Sweet dreams!
Express at an Oasis
We just made it home! As the traffic started getting heavy through Chicago, we stopped by a travel Oasis for our last dinner of the trip. I grabbed a plate from Panda Express and a Starbucks for the road. The plate included Chow Mein, Fried Rice, Sweet Fire Chicken and Beijing Beef. Note to self: 700 miles may have been pushing it for one day.
Grilled Burger
Tonight, I’m thankful for family, food and fellowship. It was great seeing family for the first time in a decade. It was even better that they invited us over for Burgers on the Grill. But, the best part for me was getting to visit with them. I wish we could do it more often.
Banzai Burger
We went to grab dinner at Red Robin tonight. I wanted to try their new Porkiyaki Burger, but after I ordered it, the server told me they were out. So, I tried their Banzai Burger and Bottomless Fries. The burger was OK, but I must’ve gotten the bottom of the fries because they weren’t very good. I decided to wash it down with a Blue Moon, but the server returned to say they were out of that, too. Then, he rattled off a bunch of other beers they were out of. So, I stuck with my water. Overall a unsatisfying meal.
Sunday Night Roast
Tonight we made a Quick Cooker Pot Roast with Mashed Potatoes, and it turned out perfectly! The roast was fall-apart tender. The mashed potatoes were creamy, garlic and buttery. The carrots we tender. And, it was all done in 45 minutes.
Rueben with a Pickle
We had an early dinner tonight. Jennifer and Sophie grabbed us some sandwiches from McAlister’s Deli, and I couldn’t resist the Rueben with a Pickle. I ordered a bag of chips, but they didn’t make it to the house. Instead, they brought me a Macadamia Cookie, and it was tasty.
